Parents: Hi! My name is Linda Ray-McKenna and I am the Head of the Competition Food Committee.  Please email me at
lindaraymckenna@yahoo.com with any food allergies or dietary restrictions for your child(ren), so that accommodations can be put
in place.  Because of the amount of food that needs to be prepared in a short amount of time, I cannot make special meals for picky
eaters.  I always have peanut butter and jelly available if your child doesn't like what we are having or I can keep food cold and heat
it up if they need to bring their own.  I can also always use help in preparing and serving, so just let me know.  Thanks!!!

Parent Preview / Pie Auction Handout from August 12th: The Parent Preview / Pie Auction was a great event to see a
portion of the show the band has worked very hard for.  There was a handout at the show with information concerning the marching
band schedule.  If you missed yours,

The next parent meeting -- Monday, September 26, 2011 -- 7:00 p.m. in the Band Room at South!

Pit Crew -- help move the Pit equipment and props on and off the field during half time of the football games and when we perform at
the competitions.
Competition Food -- Help prepare and serve the meals and snacks for the band on the days of the competitions.
Uniforms - Help hand out uniforms prior to the games and competitions and then make sure the uniforms are hung up properly after the
games and competitions.
Chaperones - Be an adult presence on the buses and be general help while at the competitions.
Water on the Field - Help fill water glasses for the band during the football games.  You will be on the field, down by the band, during
most of the evening.

With all of these, the most important requirement is your desire to be helpful.  Don't worry if you don't know what you are supposed to do,
there will be "veterans" there to answer any questions.  So, if any of these strike your fancy, please let me know what positions(s) you
would like to volunteer for and which home football games and/or competition dates you would like to sign up for.  I will make sure to add
you to the list(s).
Check the website for all the dates -- www.jaguarpride.com (See the upper left hand corner and click on "Calendar").
Hello everyone,

Merchandise:  Cathy Andrews has Kiwi Green Imari shirts for the parents, and is taking orders for green Jaguar Pride hoodies and crewneck sweatshirts.  She will have a
table at the football game this Friday.   Please stop by and say hi!
Click Here for the order form for all of the items so you can see the prices and available sizes.  If you
would like to print off the order form, fill it out and give it to Cathy at the football game, that would be great.

Volunteer Needs:
Below are the volunteer needs for this week’s football game – September 2.  Remember, if you are helping on the field with Pit or water, you still have to pay for a
ticket to the game or use your activity pass.  The “Field Crew” shirt only gives you access to the field, not the game.

PIT:  We still need 8 people.

WATER ON THE FIELD:  I still need 3 people.

Other help needed:

WELDER:  We are need of someone who is a welder.  We need to fabricate carts to carry some of the pit equipment. If you have this skill and the equipment, please let
me know.

As always, if you have any questions, please let me know.  Thank you!

Jaguar Pride Trailer Sponsor Flier:  Click HERE
Sponsors for Trailer:  We have 3 spots left! Yeah, we have the new trailer! It looks great and is a very beneficial piece of
equipment for the band.  We are looking for sponsors to add their logo to the trailer.  We know the time is short, but we hope to get
the sponsor logos on the trailer before we travel to the Ozarko Festival (10/22). So, if you have a business and would like to be a
sponsor of the band with a logo on the trailer, please let me know by Thursday (10/6) morning.  Thursday afternoon, we will begin
soliciting from other businesses in Blue Springs for the remaining spots.  Here is a flyer with the details on how to become a
sponsor.  The logos for the trailer are about 18” tall by 30” wide.  The cost per logo is $400.  If you want a logo on each side of the

  • The above link contains sheet music needed for percussion auditions.  This file is from last year in May
so please disregard the schedule and dates contained in the file.
We received information from the photography company that takes pictures at many of the marching band
competitions we have attended.  Originally, it was an offer to order discounted prints through November 27.
However, they did not send Mrs. Goff the email until November 26.  We were not able to get the information
out to the parents before the November 27 deadline, but thought we would pass along the links to their
photos in case you see a picture of your child and want to purchase it at regular price.  Please note these are
not for this year's show.  The two competitions they sent us links for were the 2009 Blue Springs Marching
Festival (Gladiator) and the 2010 Ozarko Invitational (Fusion).  Here are the respective links for each
competition.

BSSD TV presents Positively Blue Springs -- Pete Grigsby sent the following information. The talk show on BSSD TV
"Positively Blue Springs" spotlighted Melissia Goff and the Jaguar Pride. The show also aired on Comcast 15/ATT u-verse 99.

Here's a link to the show: "tribute" to Jaguar Pride.
Holiday Concert -- The holiday band concert is Monday, December 12 in the PAC.  The concert will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.
Plan to arrive early, so you don't miss a second of it.  The concert will consist of the Freshman band and the Symphonic band.
In addition, there will be several small ensembles playing throughout the concert.

Concert dress for the students -- The freshmen are to wear black pants (boys) or skirts (girls), black shoes and socks and
white shirts.  The boys need to wear a tie -- it can be a festive tie, if they want.  The Symphonic Band members (sophomores,
juniors and seniors) must wear their concert dress (girls) or tuxes (boys).  Tux shirts must be paid for ASAP.

Please make sure the dresses and pants have been hemmed before coming to the concert.  Do not cut any fabric and please
have the hem hand-stitched.  This will make it easier for the next student who wears it to change the hem if needed.
