Mr. Joseph Raffurty

Assistant Director of Bands, Delta Woods Middle School

Joseph is the Assistant Director of Bands at Delta Woods Middle School. Joseph assists at Blue Springs South High School during the marching season as well as working individually with the clarinet section.

Prior to coming to Blue Springs, Joseph served as the Director of Bands for 8 years at Joplin North Middle School in Joplin, MO. While at Joplin, Joseph ran all facets of the North Middle School program. His students achieved numerous recognitions, including earning membership in the SWMMEA Junior High Honor Band and Superior ratings at local large ensemble festival evaluations. Also while at Joplin, Joseph assisted the Joplin High School Band during the school year. He was happy to help in many capacities, such as woodwind tech, and audio/visual tech for the marching program. During the concert band season, Joseph continued to assist the high school woodwind section during morning rehearsals. Prior to Joplin, Joseph also served as Assistant Director of Bands at St. James High School in St. James, MO for 3 years.

Joseph is an active clarinet player in the KC Metro area. Currently he performs with the Northwinds Symphonic Band and has begun a small clarinet studio. Joseph grew up in Odessa, MO and graduated from Odessa High School. Joseph attended the University of Central Missouri where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Bachelor of Music in Music Technology. Joseph earned his master’s degree in Music Education at the University of Central Missouri in 2016 and is currently working on his degree in Educational Leadership through UCM. Joseph currently lives in Blue Springs, MO with his wife, Stefanie.
